Repair The PST File
1) Select the Outlook Data (.pst) File field, path, and file name that should be scanned or repaired.
2) Next, specify a location where Scanpst.exe should save the final PST file.
3) Press “start” to start the scanning procedure. Keep in mind that your PST file is being scanned, and the exact length of time it will take to complete is unknown.
4) After the procedure is finished, select “backup of scanned file before repairing generate” to create a backup of the scanned PST file. This generates a.bak file that contains the whole scanned version of your Outlook Data File, which has typically come in handy when data loss occurs or scanpst.exe fails to produce the desired results.
5) Next, take a look at the quantity of items in the Outlook PST file and the quantity of faults that scanpst.exe has found.
6) Press the Repair button to launch the fixing procedure. Depending on the size of the PST file, this operation could take some time. For instance, running a test on a 2GB PST file won’t even take two minutes. On the other hand, there is no certainty about the complete procedure and time consumption if a 10GB PST file is processed using the Inbox Repair Tool.
7) The last step is to check the place where the PST file was saved when scanpst.exe finishes the repair procedure. Try importing or opening the corrected Outlook Data File in Microsoft Outlook from that location.
