Definition
A ‘Catch All’ email account is one that receives emails sent to the domain’s incorrect email addresses. When this option is enabled, emails sent to any domain-related email account will not bounce. It will also provide email addresses to the domain’s ‘non-existing’ or ‘invalid’ email addresses to the configured ‘Catch All’ account.
The email can be validated by the administrator or users that have access to the catch-all email account. They can also correct any errors in the email address or first name, as well as last name confusions, and send the correspondence to the correct address.
Furthermore, this prevents any crucial emails to the domain from being bounced back.
For example, if a user sends an email to abc [email protected] rather than [email protected], the email will not bounce. It’ll be in the all-purpose mailbox. The administrator or the user with access to the catch-all account can quickly validate and route messages to [email protected].
‘Catch All’ also aids in the prevention of spam emails sent using a brute force strategy. This assists in classifying a domain’s genuine and invalid email addresses by tracking emails delivered and bounced back.
